The Kurdish Student Association of America was founded by a group of Kurdish undergraduate and graduate students from Rutgers University, Columbia University, the CUNY Graduate Center, Stanford University, the University of Pennsylvania, and Yale University. Several of its founders had previously established the Kurdish Studies Graduate Student Association at Rutgers University, which became the foundation and inspiration for creating a national student association.
